What is Artspace?
Artspace is a nonprofit arts organization specializing in creating, owning, and operating affordable spaces for artists and creative businesses. These spaces include live/work apartments for artists and their families, working artist studios, arts centers, commercial space for arts-friendly businesses, and other projects.
How Does Artspace fulfill their mission?
Their mission is to create, foster, and preserve affordable and sustainable space for artists and arts organizations. Artspace works in three major areas: Consulting Services, Property Development, and Asset Management. Through their Consulting Services, they share their expertise with clients across the country. Property Development creates new Artspace projects through a mix of historic renovation and new construction. Artspace’s Asset Management group ensures long-term financial stability and affordability for artists.

Mesa Artspace Lofts – Grand Opening
As a resident of the new Mesa location as of April 2017, Artspace has become my new home and work loft. In addition to being an affordable spot to accommodate my artist lifestyle, part of the Artspace concept involves community collaboration. I personally participated in one of the factions called Events & Exhibition. Within that particular committee, we were responsible for hosting live entertainment events and art gallery openings. The Grand Opening, which took place on January 23rd, was a culmination of everything we’d been planning prior. We had a Soft Opening, which took place on Halloween, and a small handful of test runs to work out the kinks in preparation for the Grand Opening.

It’s been quite an interesting experience thus far and I’m looking forward to what the future may bring forth next with this unique collaboration. Below are some photos and a brief walkthrough of the Grand Opening:



































































What is Gen Society?
Gen Society is an art space blog for visual art and creative writing collaborations, and other randomizations. Hosted by writer and musician Lorin Drexler, this online venue is an expressive experience for those interested in the world of the arts. It is a literary journey through the hearts and minds of contemporary artists in practice and a reflection of those that have long passed.
